We stock a comprehensive range of urban and farm fencing that can add so much value to your rural/lifestyle property. Fencing not only provides you and your animals security and privacy, it can also provide shelter from the elements.

Timber fences are both decorative and functional, and can enhance your home. It’s important, then, that your fence complements the style of your house. With any fencing, the wood you choose, as well as the method used to build it, determines its character. Good quality timber is crucial. Inferior materials deteriorate and at worst, collapse.

Use timber that has been treated to at least H3.2 standard for elements of the fence that are above the ground e.g. palings, railings etc. Use H4 treated timber for the elements of the fence that are to be placed in the ground e.g. posts. Protecting your fence with paint or stain is also advisable. The right tools make the job easier and help to ensure your structure turns out square, level and plumb. Timber posts set in concrete, with rails and vertical palings, is the typical New Zealand suburban fence. The basic post and rail fence is a starting point for most fences, including picket and paling fences.

Whether you’re looking for basic fencing supplies or retaining wall timber, here at Western ITM, we’ve got West Auckland covered.

Wire and Batten Fencing - Batten and wire fences usually consist of seven or eight wires, using 2.5mm hi-tensile. The posts can be number one or two, which relates to the diameter of the post. Posts are usually spaced at 4.5m with five battens per space.

Fence Palings - Paling Fences are the most common type of fence and most traditional type of timber fence. Commonly known as treated pine fences they offer the perfect solution for boundary fencing around the home that won’t break the budget. A traditional Paling Fence is built with treated pine posts, rails and palings with the palings butted up against each other to provide great privacy. This design makes it one of the cheapest full privacy boundary fences on the market and with the treatment in the timber offering long term resistance against decay and insects it’s no wonder it is one of New Zealand’s most popular long lasting fences.
